It's simply not summer without the YMCA. Y camps are a place where children will grow, meet new friends and experience new things. YMCA summer programs seek to build character, demonstrate values and develop skills for life. Chess Camp
This is the seventh year that Berkeley Chess will be offering chess camps with the YMCA. Campers will learn the fundamental strategies of this life long game and will find this enrichment opportunity fun and challenging. This popular camp is likely to sell out, so sign up early!

Lego - Engineering Fundamentals Camp
Led by instructors from Play-Well TEKnologies, campers will design and build all new motorized machines, catapults, pyramids, demolition derby cars, truss and suspension bridges, buildings, and other constructions. Explore concepts in physics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, and architecture while playing with your favorite creations. This is a hands-on and minds-on class suitable for LEGO novices to maniacs.

Lego - Junkyard Challenge Camp
Your team will compete to design and build the fastest, strongest, smallest, largest, lightest, heaviest, most maneuverable, most durable, and coolest machines and structures to accomplish a variety of tasks. Success and completion will necessitate construction of bridges, elevators, bulldozers, conveyor belts, and other motorized and alternatively powered contraptions to overcome obstacles.

Lego Camp - Bashem Bots
Create a wrestling robot to compete in the ring. Then re-engineer it to be a battling bot and take on all challengers. Try using a worm gear claw or strengthen your defenses with a pneumatic drive. Then ally your bot with others in tag team competitions. Instruction will be provided by staff. Familiarity with LEGO Technic is desirable and can be obtained by attending fundamentals camp.

Lego Camp - Sports Bots
We will design and build motorized remote controlled sports bots to compete in rousing games of soccer, hockey, basketball, football, quidditch, and bocce, among others. You may also invent your own sport. Instruction will be provided by staff, but familiarity with the LEGO technic building system is desirable.

Lego- PreEngineering Camp
Learn, create and play! Instructors from Play-Well TEKnologies will help campers build a town, city or star base with houses, buildings, pyramids, bridges, tunnels, towers and more. Campers will construct motorized cars, trains, buses and trucks, then race, crash and repair them. Explore the many possibilities of LEGO building systems while learning useful construction techniques and having a ton of fun!

My First Science Lab
Become a junior mad scientist! This camp is a great introduction to science. Preschoolers explore their sense of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Children use a magnifying glass to discover the world of creepy crawly creatures. Explore the science of the sea and the fascinating creatures that live there. Campers become paleontologists by searching for fossils and participating in a mini dinosaur dig. Finally, take an exciting mission with mad science to explore the planets, moon, and stars. take-home projects included each day!

PeeWee Sports Camp
With a focus on fun, preschoolers start learning fundamental skills through drills and games. Sports may include teeball, soccer, basketball and floor hockey. The instructors will lead activites that will develop your camper's skills in dribbling, shooting, kicking, passing, throwing, batting and running bases. Games include parachute activites, water play, relays and more.

Super Sports Camp
Campers will get to play an array of sports every day, including baseball, street hockey, flag football, touch-rugby, dodgeball, and more! This is a great way for campers to play the sports they love best in a fun non-compaetitive environment, as well as try out new sports they may not have played before. Perfect for young athletes of all skill levels.
