Adventure Guides

The YMCA Adventure Guides Program (formerly Indian Guides) dates back to 1926 and has more then 250,000 participants across the country. It is the largest and oldest family life program of the YMCA. We have designed the YMCA Adventure Guides program to assist you and your child on your journey of discovery. While activities with the whole family are important, we see tremendous value in supporting and strengthening the ability of a parent and his or her child to communicate at an early age in ways that are caring, honest, respectful, and responsible. We seek to encourage you as a parent to 'get to know your kid while your kid is still a kid.'

Y Adventure Program

The Y Adventure program provides quality time for parents and their children, from preschool to sixth grade. Participants form into groups called circles (formerly known as tribes), which hold monthly meetings and activities. The circles get together eight times per year for group events, such as, campouts, pinewood derby, fall carnival, skating, kite fly, train trip, and river rafting. Leadership for the program is provided by parent navigators who meet monthly with YMCA staff. Leaders come together and plan upcoming events, share stories of the past events, and develop activities for circle meetings. This program is the longest running YMCA program in our community.
